What is “Chair Yoga”?

Chair yoga is a gentle method of yoga and fitness which tones the body and reduces stress. Chair yoga is for anyone who has ever hesitated to try yoga because of the challenge of getting down on the floor or doing standing poses. In chair yoga a chair replaces the traditional yoga mat; all movements are performed while sitting and just about any pose that can be done standing, sitting, or lying on a mat can be adapted to sitting on a chair. Occasionally very light, hand-held weights are also used for strengthening and toning.
